Blurb

Just like the seas
It is deep;
extending far down from what you see at the surface.
It is calm;
With silent whispers it speaks to you.
It is raging;
An uncontrolled anger that could bring you down.

It is our 3am thoughts.

Very lovely poem. I feel it should have been arranged in stanzas, but it's still a nice piece

The theme is very clear, talking about an act that is very paramount among Nigerian parents.

It's a good poem

This rather an amazing way to tell a story of abuse through poetry (narrative poem).

Subject matter -
Like I always say, “a poet is one that can say what everyone is saying in an artistic way” and that is exactly what the poet did.

Abuse in marriage, one that is seen as normal by the society (this can be seen by the person’s mom's constant use of "a woman must be patient”), is very common subject almost every knows and talks about but the poet showed his/her artistic gifts by presenting this topic is a very unique way.

First the use of a narrative poetry. The story is very sad come to think of it and the poet has presented in a way that all throughout the reading, the reader will be convinced to empathize with these women who go through such abuse in marriage.

The effect - although the poet didn't suggest a way out of this ordeal should anyone find themselves in one neither did she bring a happy ending but with how is it presented, anyone who reads it finds a sense of relief (if they are in an abuse marriage themselves) or an urge to help do something about this issue.

That's a unique art the poet portrayed there.

Diction - the words in the poem couldn’t have been said in any different way than it was said.
The words were fit for the poem - not too difficult and not too simple which is ok for the kind of audience the message of the poem is directed to.

Grammar - There is no grammatical mistakes as far as my knowledge in grammar will allow me to see. It is beautifully written with no grammatical error.

In all, great poetry.
